Vancouver/Whistler/Victoria Tour Sept/Oct 2015

On day one we toured around Vancouver for sightseeing the most exciting points and views of the pearl of the West Coast. On the second day we drove up to Whistler with a stop at Alta Lake and visits of the Olympic Place and a stroll through downtown Whistler. On the way back, we stopped at the Sea to Sky Gondola and enjoyed the amazing view down to Squamish Inlet. On day three we took the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo/VanIsland and continued to Chemainus to see the world famous murals. We continued to Victoria, the Capital of British Columbia where we explored the downtown area and enjoyed a tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. Another ferry ride from Swartz Bay to Tsawassen brought us back to Vancouver.

Mount Elphinstone  (May 2015)

We knew it would be a steep one, but the weather looked promising and my guest seemed to be a good hiker. The forest in the Mount Elphinstone area is very interesting and the tall Douglas firs and lush bushes would let us forget the challenging steep trail. With glimpses to the peak we could see the clouds moving in and when we arrived on the peak, there was thick fog around us. We sat down to our lunch, a little bit disappointed but nevertheless happy to be on the top. All of a sudden, the clouds opened up and we could see down to Howe Sound and to Vancouver Downtown. A real reward for all the sweat. Since my guest was such a fast hiker, we decided to add the Langdale Falls to our hike.

Mount Steel (August 10, 2014)

We knew right at the beginning that it would be a really hot day, and it was. But being higher up in the mountains with delicious blueberries and beautiful wildflowers along the trail, we absolutely enjoyed the hike to the "Top of the Sunshine Coast". The view from the summit is stunning with the snowcaps of the Coast Mountains, the vast forest covered hills, Howe Sound, and Vancouver Island in the west and turned our lunch into a firstclass meal in an outstanding location. On the way back it was very agreable to have a rest at Edwards Lake and to cool the toes in the fresh water.

Hike to Edward Cabin in Tetrahedron Park (July 17/18, 2014)

After an early afternoon drive up the bumpy logging road, we started our 2 days adventure into Tetrahedron Park. Soon after our start, our guest's hiking boot fell apart. Fortunately, we were able to tape it and we could continue our hike. The spectacular view and incredible weather made our hearts sing. After a stop at Edwards Lake, we could soon see the green roof of Edwards Cabin, our overnight destination. We had lots of fun with preparing dinner on our camping stove and were soon ready to hit the sleeping bags. There is nothing better than an early breakfast up in the mountain, listening to birds, and enjoying the pure nature around.
